My middle school has some money to spend quickly and wants to buy class sets. I
opened my mouth in objection to some of the titles on the list including Crime and
Punishment; For Whom the Bell Tolls; Native Son; The Scarlet Letter; and more in
the same vein and am now looking for substitute titles that I think the kids will
love and that will encourage reading. We are working hard on a school-wide reading
goal to promote reading. If you have a favorite title that would work for a class
set for seventh and/or eighth graders, I would appreciate your suggestions. I'll be
glad to post a hit if anyone is interested. TIA
