Thanks to all who sent information about conversion from Spectrum (and
Athena) to InfoCentre. My district had decided to install InfoCentre this
summer without any input from our 6 librarians. The only training that was
offered was a help manual posted to our computer files to be downloaded and
printed out (all 250+ pages). The first person to use the system, a clerk at
the high school, encountered many problems. Sagebrush (purchased by Follett
this summer) was experiencing problems with their phone support. So the
clerk was instructed to use email for the solution to her complex problem.
She and I spoke to our head of Technology and were able to get funding for a
trainer to come out to the district and show all the librarians and clerks
how to use the system. That training will be arranged shortly.
I have compiled some of the concerns that LM_NET members have sent me about
InfoCentre and will present them to the trainer.
Thanks again to everyone who replied to my query.
