didn't quite locate the super-easy, step-by-step instructions I hoped
for. Still, I think there's enough here to manage a project with the
right expert help.

From this, it looks like you could figure out how to make a small
bookcase, using same-sized books for shelves.
Books also form the sides of the book case.
Its looks like there's a lumber backing.
Stack books
Drill holes down the center
Put a threaded lamp base into them
Make a stack of books into a lamp!
Stack books
Put a metal dowel through the middle
Put them under a piece of glass for a table.
Attach old books to a frame for a sofa or a chair
Stack books,
placing them at interesting angles
Drill a hole down the center.
Insert a metal pipe
Attach it to a wooden base.
Use hardcover books
The pipe is what holds it all together.
