Baronet Books / Modern Publishing / Abdo Publishing put out a series called
the Great Illustrated Classics. Go to Amazon / Books and type in Great
Illustrated Classics and you'll get plenty of titles. We have 3 dozen or so
of these and they're regularly used by "reluctant readers" or students who
just aren't up to speed.

Subject: TARGET: hi/lo books for high school
I'm getting ready to teach a course where, among other things, I'll be
telling teachers about the best reads for high school reluctant readers who
are reading below level. I'm already prepared to tell them about the Orca
and Bluford books, but if anyone can suggest other series or individual
titles that would be interesting to high schoolers reading at a third,
fourth or fifth grade level, I 'd be grateful. I'll post a hit if there is
