[LM_NET] TAR: TECH QUESTION: Barcode Scanners

I am just starting to automate my collection using Follett Destiny.  
The program came with
one scanner.

Several older scanners were found in the school that worked with 
Winnebago.
One has a USB adapter. One is older than that.

Question:  Can these  be successfully adapted for Follett Destiny?
Is there a company that can converts scanners cheaply?

Also --are there compatible scanners that work successfully with 
Follett Destiny
that are cheaper than Follett's name brand scanner?
