[LM_NET] TAR: Do you know this book?

Do you know this book? A former student emailed me about it, and it doesn't 
ring a bell.

 "It was a young girl who lived with her mom and did not have much money, 
and for some reason moved in with a rich father/uncle. She then went to a 
boarding school and became friends with a shy girl who was not a student but 
was living in the attic or something. She was close to her grandmother and 
visited her a lot. The girl also had an Indian friend and became friends 
with the whole tribe. I think it was a series and maybe a mystery."
