I don"t know how many of you are involved with E2T2 funding in your schools, but a
posting on another listserv put out this Alert from ISTE today.
ACTION ALERT
The U.S. House of Representatives is poised to eliminate all funding for education
technology . The U.S. Senate is scheduled to begin working on its education funding
bill on July 18. NOW is the time for all education technology supporters to weigh
in with their Senators and Representatives to save the Enhancing Education Through
Technology (EETT) program and restore funding for this crucial program . Go to
http://www.edtechactionnetwork.org/ed_tech_state.html to see the amount of funding
your state stands to lose if the EETT program is eliminated.
ISTE is leading the charge in Washington , DC to save the EETT program; developing
a strong coalition of education and industry partners to actively support the
program. On July 12, ISTE’s CEO Don Knezek will be the kick-off speaker for an
EETT press conference with keynote speakers, U.S. Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-CT),
and U.S. Representative Thadeus McCotter (R-MI) . However, our efforts “inside
the beltway” must be reinforced by your constituent voices.
Please go to http://www.edtechactionnetwork.org to make your voice heard . The
web-site has been redesigned and it is easier to use than ever, just type in your
zip code, and you will be linked to your congressional delegation and a draft
letter. Please personalize the letter, put in your address, authenticate the
message at the bottom of the screen and click to send an e-mail message (if you
prefer you can print the letter and fax it, do not send by regular mail). After the
message has been sent, a “Tell a Friend” screen will appear allowing you to
enter up to six e-mail addresses to share this important ed tech message with your
friends and colleagues .
ISTE will keep you apprised of the outlook for EETT as the funding process unfolds
and will disseminate action alerts to the ISTE membership at critical times.
Together we can make a difference!
