Hi Fellow SML's:

Well, I started my new job. It is at Bushwick High School, which has been divided
into four small schools: The School for Social Justice; the Academy for Urban
Planning; the New York Harbour School; and Bushwick HS (which is being phased out).
I found out that instead of the 900 students I thought they have, there are 1600!
I have asked for an aide but I don't know if I will get one. So far I've spent the
entire first two weeks revamping the non-fiction section. It did not seem to be in
any logical order. (I think they renovated the library at some point last year,
hence the disorder.)

My questions:

1)Do most of you shelve the hardcover and paperback fiction together or separate?

2) What percentage, approx., is your reference section compared to circulating?
Fiction compared to non-fiction?

3) What is a good website or source for locating hi-lo books?

4) Which vendor do you use the most? Fast-track? Follett? Baker & Taylor? BWI?

5) There doesn't seem to be many books directed to professional development for
teachers. Can you recommend any?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

Nora Kozuch, SML
Bushwick High School
