In Tomie dePaola's "Charlie Needs a Cloak" there is a secondary story
taking place in the "underground" of the story. A small mouse is
gathering castoffs to create a cozy home while Charlie is creating a
cozy cloak.
Jan Brett does this -- especially in her Troll books where the trolls
have a whole story going on underground (in the boards she has
created)
I have ALL the Brett books.
Pam Munoz Ryan has a parrellel story going in and out of Mice and
Beans where the mice are taking items for the birthday party - -and
use them to have their own birthday celebration.
What other books use this "underground" or parallel story technique?
