[LM_NET] High School Lit. Circles

Some high school English teachers are doing lit. circles with the theme, "From 
Helplessness to Resiliency".  I checked the archives and found some great titles 
that would work by using keywords "resiliency" and also "problem novels".  The main 
character does not necessarily have to be resilient, but we would like to discuss 
support systems the character used or could have used to become resilient.  Can you 
recommend any high school must reads for this theme?  Especially with copyright 
dates 2000-2006?
