After that somewhat dismal message yesterday ("same old song"),
I thought I'd share a happier moment tonight.
This morning I had a group of eighth graders in, continuing their
research on social reformers of the 19th century. I was helping to
proofread their proposal essays (in part to show them the problems
with trusting spellcheck too much). I came across one young fellow who
wrote in part, "I am choosing Frederick Douglass and Harriet Tubman
because they were both abolitionists, and because I found two great books
in the library with a lot of information about them."
Hallelujah!
