Dear wise ones,
I am looking for a good video, lesson plan, or
activity dealing with diversity, civil rights, and
tolerance for middle school. I have middle school
students as a related arts class (same students every
day for 9 wks and then I get a new group). I have had
several students in my classes display some racist
attitudes, make comments, etc. Our school is not very
diverse, but there are students here that could
definitely be hurt by the attitudes a lot of my
students have displayed. I have tried just talking to
them about the issue, but I don't feel like I'm
getting through. I have one issue of Teaching
Tolerance magazine and have ordered their free videos,
but would like suggestions as to videos, lessons, or
activities that have been successful with your
classes. Thanks in advance.
