Dear Colleagues,
Please read and abide by the guidelines below. Some of the postings lately
seem to be of the type addressed by our LM_NETiquette (from which the
follwing was taken):
A FRIENDLY REMINDER
Never post a message to the group which would not be of interest to
thousands of people. Similarly, please respect the wishes of the
member who posts the message and requests to receive a reply
privately, to his/her e-mail address. It is considered wasteful of
the time of list members to be pestered with meaningless (to them)
messages which are of value only to a small number of people. LM_NET
is NOT a newsgroup where people reply to each other routinely posting
to the entire group.
Normally, please send information only to the individual person who
requested it. If they receive a lot of replies, they will probably
post them to the group. Please use our Target/Hit procedure to
gather information, and share later with the group.
Conversation on LM_NET should focus on the topics of interest to
the school library media community, including the latest on school
library media services, operations, and activities. LM_NET is
for practitioners helping practitioners, sharing ideas, solving
problems, telling each other about new publications and up-coming
conferences, asking for assistance or information, and linking
schools through their library media centers.
Think before you post. Do I really want to say this to the entire
world (and have it posted to the LM_NET Archives as well?) Reread
what you wrote. Did you really say what you intended to? Once a
message is sent, it can't be retrieved. Sending to the individual
or to the entire group is an important consideration.
The LM_NET discussion is open to ALL school library media specialists -
worldwide- and people involved with the school library media field.
It is _not_ for general librarians or educators. Please help keep the
activity and discussion focused on school library media. But, LM_NET
can be used by library media people for many different things-- to ask
for input, share ideas and information, link programs that are
geographically remote, make contacts, etc.
