I've followed the training thread.
I've run across another related issue. We require staff only to
physically checkout and return digital equipment. The principal also
had me develop a financial responsibility form for staff to take
these items off campus. The challenge comes when a teacher gives a
student a digital still or camcorder to take home without having the
student and his/her parents sign a form. These items cost easily
$200-$700.
I had a teacher (who had been trained) return a camera with a broken
latch. It will cost $160 just to replace the front half of the
case. To purchase another one would cost at least $200 and also
require installation of downloading software & card reader.
It's not easy getting this across to teachers and administration.
I'm holding my breath that some student will lose, break or have our
high end equipment stolen.
