My school district just instituted an entire new reading series last week.
The plans were to sell the previous one, which is Harcourt Brace's Signatures
1999 edition and is still in very good condition. The reading specialists
intend to petition the administration and board to allow us to donate these
materials to a school devastated by Katrina. We don't know yet if we will be
allowed to do this but we would like to try to plan ahead in case our request
is approved.
I realize it will be months before any school will be ready to accept
donations such as this, but I would like to know if anyone has knowledge of a
school that is likely to be in need of these materials as schools reopen in the
future. There will be enough student anthologies, language handbooks, and
teachers manuals and related materials for at least 2000 students, grades 1-6.
If you know of such a school, I would appreciate any contact information you
could give me.
