Dear Friends,
I am graduate student at the School of Information and Library Science at
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Currently in the throws of
writing of a master's paper, I am researching and arguing that the school
library media specialist could/should/has the potential to be a natural link
between the school and the cultural institutions within the community and by
extension views the media center as a cultural institution within the school (an
idea generated by my professor and mentor, Dr. David Carr in a 1991 article).
I am looking for instances and examples of this type of interaction. It
need not be a big to-do! One time occurances are interesting as well as
on-going relationships you may have developed. I would greatly appreciate
information or a description of what kind of project you were/are involved in, how
it
panned out, and your thoughts on serving your school and students in that
capacity. Personal philosophies regarding this idea will be warmly received.
Thank you and best wishes.
