- Thread-Topic: silent reading period - need suggestions on implementation
My middle school is adding a silent reading period next school year, which will
meet 3 times a week and last 30 minutes. Each teachers will have a silent reading
group. My principal has asked me for ideas on how this can be implemented
successfully and what problems might be encountered. I would like to hear from
schools that have silent reading periods with what has worked, what has not worked
and ideas for staff buy-in. What role does the library media center and librarian
have with the silent reading period. Some of our teachers have just said they
will let students do homework during this time. Is that permitted in other
schools.
Any help and ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Linden Dennis
