I chose to go against tradition and have put all our series books in a
separate area which is labeled 
"SERIES".  I have noticed that books which set on the shelf all year will
be suddenly checked out if 
the books are in this area. I put them alphabetically by the title of the
series.  It has worked great 
for us.
