Sorry to be so slow in pasting a hit. Here's the information I received
regarding my request for movie editing information. (The original
request is at the end of this email.)

I've got 512MB RAM, it's a Sony Vaio laptop. Microsoft offers MM2 as a
free
download, or did. I'm using firewire now, but am moving to recording on
a
memory stick and using that. The advantage there is, at least it seems
to
me, is that instead of dubbing to my computer a hour of video taking an
hour
(realtime), to get the video in the computer from a memory stick is just
copying a file; which takes seconds. A USB adapter to let your computer
read
the memory stick can be had for 60 bucks or so. I saw a 512MB memory
stick
at Costco for $59, online $65 or so. I'm thinking the memory stick
option
will also be more long term stable than digital tape.

I use Pinnacle's Studio 9 software. It is very easy and has a fairly
simple
learning curve. I really like it. Of course you need a firewire input
to
get the video in then its just power, memory, drive space.

If you have experience with movie making/editing using a miniDV digital
video camera and a PC, would you please contact me off-list?
I've seen the software and equipment required using a MAC, and I've been
told that MAC is the only way to go. However, our system supports PC
only, and I'll need to stick with that. I'm interested in knowing what
software and hardware others havve had success with.
Thanks for any help you can give me. I'm hoping to find something to
make the taping of our morning announcements much less time consuming.
Thanks!
Tamara
