[LM_NET] ELEM, somewhat OT

A colleague has recently adopted a 4-year old boy from Ethiopia.  I want
to purchase an appropriate book for the family.  I am considering a book
by Jane Kurtz called FIRE ON THE MOUNTAIN, because its setting is
Ethiopia and the story is an old one.  Any chance one of my well-read
colleagues would have a better suggestion than this one?

I would appreciate replies off list.
