Do any of you have suggestions for encouragine primary age kids' parents
to return or pay for overdue (probably lost) library books? I have 4
students who still have books out from last school year, and 5 that
still have books out from summer school. We've been back in session
for 2 weeks. I've sent notice after notice, I've mailed notices home,
and I don't let them check anything out this year until they either
return or pay for the materials they still have. I have beautiful new
books that they are not getting because they have books still out. Only
one parent has reponded, after 4 notices were sent to her, that she's
positive her son returned that. I hate to just write off the loss, as I
think that sends a bad message to the students, but I also hate it that
they aren't getting to check out books. Any ideas? Thanks so much.
