Thank you all for the outpouring of advice. Most of what you are saying
I do already--no check-out to students with overdues, holding report
cards at the end of the year, etc.
My main concern is with making sure the books are returned and penalties
for not being responsible, especially about how long to wait before
assuming the book is lost. We are on flexible schedule, so I can't rely
on seeing the students on a regular basis.
Anyway, I appreciate all the answers, but I should have checked with the
district first because there is a policy in place that I will use.
