GEN: Name of book and date of globe

I have two requests.  How do you determine the age of a globe?  I have =
looked for some type of date, but cannot find one.  Also I had a parent =
ask for the title of a book that she had read during her youth.  The book =
is about an Indian boy that is sent out on his own.  While on his own he =
finds a horse.  She said the date that she read the book was about 1976.  =
