Hello!
I didn't receive many responses; it seems others are also asking this
same question.
All of the responses received had this information from the DDC:
793.7 (Games not characterized by action)
793.735 (Riddles)
815 (Speeches - would telling a joke be defined as a speech?)
818 (Miscellaneous writings)
When I was cataloguing everything from scratch, I would just give all
jokes and riddles the 793.7 designation. Now that I look at Loc.gov
frequently, I have been using what is posted there.
Anyone have an authoritative opinion on whether it would be _wrong_ to
keep putting all jokes in 793.7? I think it will be easier for the
kids.
Thanks to everyone who helped!
