Hi folks,
Following the advice of Gary Hartzell, Mike Eisenburg, David Loertcher
and other leaders in our field to publish for educators other than
librarians, I somehow got around Phi Delta Kappan's high editorial
standards and published an article in its March 2004 issue. It's called
"Plagiarism-Proofing Assignments" and mentions library media specialists
as people who can help build research assignments that ask for higher
level thinking skills and cites
Duncan and Lockhart's wonderful book _I-Search, You Search, We All Learn
to Research_.
As honored as I feel when published by Library Media Connection, School
Library Journal, Teacher-Librarian, or Multi-Media Schools, this one
feels a little different. An article in Kappan has always been sort of
the Mt. Everest of writing for me. I hope you don't mind my celebrating
the attainment of this long held professional goal with you, my friends,
on LM_Net.
Thanks to all of you for the ideas and information you share on this
list that so often spur my thinking and writing,
All the very best,
Doug
