TAR: 'inspirational' story

Hello!  We have a teacher looking for an "inspirational" short story to
read at her daughter's wedding. (Husband and wife - to - be are teachers
also.)  She is looking for something along the lines of "Miss Rumphius"
about planting, nurturing, watching things grow. We gave her Mrs.
Spitzer's Garden, and that wasn't quite along with her desires.  Any
suggestions?  Will post a hit if requested.
