Story title needed

When I was a child my Dad (1950's) told me a story. I am sure he read it
somewhere. It was about a man who built chairs and came to live inside one. It was
kind of scary. I remember being asked to leave a slumber party because I told
it during ghost story time. Anyway, I would love to find it. Anyone?
