TARGET: SEC - US quality of life statistics

Our Sociology teacher  is having students compare the quality of life in
the US  for the years 1900 and 2000.  We are looking for websites which
might have that information.  The US Census  site and Statistical abstract
site  do not go back far enough for the 1900 info.

Quality of life indicators they are researching are:
work day, income, divorce, poverty rate, human rights, education, life
expectancy, birth rate death rate, debt, lifestyle marriage, addiction,
crime rate, violent behavior

If anyone has good sites to share, please  send them along.  I'll post a
hit.
