TARGET: 3-6 Novel Studies

Our district is looking for excellent novel studies for the classroom
teachers which are upbeat.  We already include novels such as: Number
the Stars, Silverwing, Sign of the Beaver, Shiloh, From the mixed up
files, Roll of thunder, Great Gilly, etc.

It's for Grades 3-6.  They'd like some of the newer novels.

I've suggested Tales of Despereaux, Winn-Dixie, A week in the woods,
Word Eater, Bud Not Buddy.

I'd appreciate some of your expertise before I make my suggestions.
