Hi everyone. My brain is boggled right now. I have just discovered to =
my delight that we will be using flexible scheduling in my school next =
year (04-05 will be my first year as a Media =
Specialist/librarian/teacher-librarian (any other titles I missed?)
Anyway, I want to set up my planbook so that teachers may reserve either =
space in the Media Center and/or service in the Media Center or the =
classroom. In otherwords, Teacher A may want to reserve the Media =
Center space for her whole class to check out books at 10:00 on Monday =
(she stays with class, the library clerk checks out) and Teacher B may =
want to reserve my service to teach a lesson on dictionary skills in her =
classrooom at 10:00 on Monday. How do you write this in a planbook? I =
can't figure out an easy way to do this. I also want to ask teachers to =
make their library reservations by Thursday so that I can copy the =
entire week and give them a copy on Friday. Teachers may still reserve =
time if available for the next week because we are flexilbe aren't we?
If anyone out there does anything like this PLEASE let me know how you =
manage it. Also, am I crazy to try and do all this? I feel very =
strongly that this is a good way to run the Media Center. But, it's =
hard to figure out. I also want to include regularly scheduled time for =
PreK-1st storytime and once a month book talks for 3rd-5th, what about =
2nd?
I need some major help. I mapped out a trial week and it looks pretty =
full (which is the point). Any suggestions? I would like for teachers =
to have the opportunity to reserve either me and/or the space.
Thanks!
