Fellow LM-Netters,
I recently asked about the book "Fireboat" about the boat that came =
back to service for 9-11-01. I have since purchased it and it is on its =
way.
This weekend I visited New York City and found another wonderful =
book! I was touring the World Trade Center area and went into St. =
Paul's chapel. I had been there a year ago when they had the many =
signs, flowers, and memorials on their fence outside. They have moved =
them inside for permanent display. This is the chapel where many of the =
rescue workers came for rest, food, and encouragement. They had a book =
called "The Little Chapel that Stood" by A.B. Curtiss (ISBN =
0-932529-77-1). It tells the history of the chapel from the time George =
Washington and his family worshiped there to the 9-11-01 disaster. It =
is written in poem form and tells a wonderful message to young children =
who may be fearful of future attacks. Some of my favorite lines: "It's =
nice to be big and it's nice to be tall. But, sometimes, being little =
doesn't mean being small." "Terror may come but it will not stay. It =
will shake our world but we will not sway." And since I bought it at =
the chapel I have a signed copy.
I also got some great pictures of me beside the lions in front of =
the NY Public Library. I saw "Mama Mia" and "Phantom of the Opera", =
both wonderful shows!!!
