TARGET: Reference materials

I work at a K-12 school who's library is a work in progress.  Our reference
area is really sparce.  I would appreciate your thoughts as to items you
feel are necessary to have in the reference collection.

Also, our encyclopedia is from 1997 and I was thinking of getting the 2004
World Book Encyclopedia.  Many people have asked why we would spend money
on books when the students could use the Internet.  I would appreciate your
thoughts on this matter also.

I should let you know that as a private school our funds for the
library/media center are almost non-existent.  Building the collection is
going to definitely be a work in progress.  I would like to start with
something in the reference center this year.
