Kindergarten classes

Hi,
This is my first year as a librarian teaching grades K-8.  All classes went well 
except K.  I do not have an assistant and after about 10 minutes, I could not keep 
the kids interested, even while reading a story.  They wanted to go to the nurse, 
the bathroom, etc.  Please send me some suggestions.  Our class time is 30 minutes.
