I have a rare opportunity. One of our math teachers just stopped in to
ask for help finding information for her class about the original book
"The Bell Curve". She wants her students to research and write about
the racial controversy surrounding the bell curve theory. I have some
books on the topic and now I want to organize a web page with reliable
sites. I could really use your collective knowledge and wisdom to
create a good page for the students. I will post the finished product
when I am done. Here is what I need:
1. Reliable websites that discuss the mathematical theory of the Bell
Curve
2. Reliable websites that discuss and/or provide links to information
about the racial controversy involved.
3. Examples of racist sites that are using the "Bell Curve" to
"further their cause". This is the aspect that I am most worried about.
If you have any advice to share - please do. I think it is important
to present both sides of the issue without appearing to support racism.
4. Biographic information about the authors
Naturally, I am going to do some research using our subscription
databases and direct the students there first.
The teacher has given me one web page to start with. It is
<http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/discussions/sd_bell1.html>
I look forward to any and all suggestions. Thanks!!
