Author or Book Title?

Happy Halloween to you all!  A teacher came by earlier today and said =
she wanted to locate a series of books that she loved during her =
childhood in 1960's but couldn't remember the author or exact title of =
the series.  The title starts with Caroline and her friends to           =
etc.  Caroline had many cats and dogs that traveled with her to =
different places.  Any idea as whom the author or the title may be, =
