target: books set in...

I have a set of third grades that would like books with the main
characters live in Italy, Sweden, Ghana, Canada, Brazil, China, Mexico,
India or Egypt.  The teacher could use the stories as a read aloud or to
display for the kids to read... any one know of books or picture books
where the main characters live in that country not in the USA?  The
teachers were hoping to give the students a better idea of day-to-day live
in those particular countries.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated!
