I would be interested in hearing what references other librarians
replace on an annual basis. I operate a small k-12 media center and
I annually replace the following:
World Almanac, Guiness Book of Records (always so popular so also
keep the old), Peterson's guides for colleges, Occupational Outlook,
and World Atlas.
I also try to maintain the following: Abridged Reader's Guide to
Periodicals, Current Biography Yearbook, H. W. Wilson's Reference
Shelf, Gale's wonderful products called Novels for Students, Poetry
for Students, Epics for Students and Drama for Students; Scribner's
American Writers and British Writer's.
Every other year I replace CultureGams and get a new encyclopedia (if
not purchased annually).
Every year I add sets of specialized encyclopedias such as Middle
Ages or Myths, or Renaissance, etc. Whatever I need to support
curriculum.
Individual books are purchased for a multitude of various subjects annually.
What do others purchase in this area? Thanks - I will try to post a
hit if I get responses.
