TECH: (Off topic ?) laptop battery care

Hello:  I have a laptop computer and I recently had to replace the battery.  When I 
bought the laptop I did not get any manual on care of the battery.  Can anyone give 
me tips on care of a laptop battery.  I would certainly appreciate your help so I 
can lengthen the life of the battery.  I am illiterate in this area. I have heard 
"do this...do that...."
