TECH: Sign-in Software

Hi. I am looking for a program that will enable my middle school students to sign 
in to the library on computer instead of a paper log. I would like to have them be 
able to click on a purpose (browsing, research, computer, etc.)as well. I searched 
the net for something that would enable me to do this, but could only find time 
clock type software that is way too sophisticated for our purposes. It was 
suggested by a tech person that I use an Excel spreadsheet, but our middle 
schoolers are much too mischievous for that. They would delete it like crazy. Any 
ideas?
