I had two young gentlemen in the library today--fairly
computer-competent, wary of asking for help from some old librarian.
They had been in before, attempting to finish a marine science
assignment.
One of them finally approaches the ultimate search engine (a
librarian--me!) and says: "I have to have a picture of a bluefish egg.
I've been searching everywhere. In a few minutes I find it--including
images of the entire life cycle, buried way deep in the middle of a
governmental, 30 page long, pdf file. He leaves. Other young man comes
over, never one to ask a librarian for help.
"Uh, would you know where I could find a picture of a snook egg?"
Using the root of the same URL, in seconds I have the snook egg.
"Sweet! Thanks!" he responds. Made my day!
What would you expect from the ultimate search engine! :-)
