LM_NET: Library Media Networking
I would be very interested to know what others thought of the article in
eSchool news.
I, personally am very disappointed in the bias of this article. Computers
provide a wonderful platform for disseminating information, however, they
still cannot evaluate information. I also have a feeling that there is more
to the story than what was represented. Did the universities throw away the
books? Did they move the books? Are students finding USEFUL, RELEVANT
information on the Web, or are they using these computers to review class
notes and receive information already prepared by a teacher? I am having a
really hard time with the concept that buying a few laptops could replace a
library, even if space is at a premium. "Students have access to much more
material with the laptops" - good material? Material they can find?
Material that is correct? More is not necessarily better!
Thanks for letting me vent - any other thoughts?
