Description:
This activity is wonderful to use to dye Easter Eggs. Even though all of the eggs may be made the same way, no two are exactly alike.
Goals:
Students will learn how onions can color egg shells.
Objectives:
Students will make their own uniquely colored eggs even though they've been given the same supplies and the same amount of time to cook their eggs.
Materials:
1 raw egg, 1 nylon, 1 pot, water, stove, pieces of raw red onion skin
Procedure:
-
Have the student wrap the egg with the onion skin.
-
Have the student place the wrapped egg in the bottom of a nylon.
-
Tie a knot as close as possible to the egg.
-
Boil the eggs the same amount of time that you would a hard boiled egg.
-
Carefully remove the egg from the pot and let the egg cool.
-
Have the student take the egg out of the nylon then unwrap it.
-
Have the students compare and contrast the color of the egg shells.
Assessment:
Success=multi colored eggs.
