Description: Collaborative team activity for grade 2 and above designed to reinforce understanding and usage of adjectives

Goals: To teach and reinforce usage and understanding of parts of speech.

Objectives: Students will:
1) improve their usage and comprehension of adjectives, synonyms, & vocab.
2) improve creative thinking skills & teamwork & cooperation.

Materials: Word List

Procedure: Divide class into 3 or 4 teams. Each team needs to write down their team's responses. Write on the chalkboard one of the following pairs of words from the Word List. Instruct teams to work together to come up with one adj. that can describe both nouns. When all teams are ready, answers are revealed. If an appropriate adjective has been chosen, and no other team has the same answer , then the team earns one point. "Used" adjectives may not be re-used for the duration of the activity. The use of synonyms should be encouraged. Play continues in this fashion for as long as you like.

Assessment:
Has everyone in the class participated?
Did they enjoy the lesson?
Did the teacher enjoy the 1/2 hour, also?
