Date: May 12, 1998

Grade Level(s): 9

Subject(s):

Goal:

The students will introduce a classmate in Spanish after interviewing that student using basic Spanish phrases learned in class.

Objectives:

The students will be able to use correct Spanish grammar to introduce their classmate.
The students will be able to ask their partner questions and take notes of their responses.

Background Information:

The students will already know how to ask someone's name, how they are, how old they are, what they like to do, how many brothers and sisters they have, and where they are from. They should use these phrases, and any others they have learned to interview and introduce their classmate.

Materials:

The teacher will need a hat and slips of paper with numbers on them for the partners to draw.
This will determine the order of the introductions.

Procedure:

1)  Have the students pair up.

2)  Then, have each student interview the other student asking them at least 4 of the questions from above or other questions from class. Be sure they take good notes of what the other person says. The questions and responses should be in Spanish.

3)  When the students are done taking notes and interviewing, have each pair, pick a number. The number will determine the order that the presentation will go.

4)  The students will then introduce the person based on the notes that they took from the interview.

Assessment:

The teacher should make sure that each student is able to say at least 3/4 of the phrases they use correctly.

This can be assessed orally by listening to the pronunciations, and grammatically by listening to the sentence structures.
